On July, I embarked on an unforgettable journey to Canada, specifically to the picturesque city of Quebec, where I had the opportunity to participate in a two-week summer program at Laval University.
The program, titled "Modern Real-Life Operations Management and Logistics," was not your typical classroom experience. It was led by two exceptional professors who brought their expertise to life through an innovative approach. We didn't just study operations management and logistics from textbooks; we lived it. This was achieved through a combination of company visits, guest speakers, and interactive discussions.
What made this experience even more enriching was the diverse group of participants. About fifteen of us hailed from different corners of the world, and this international mix pushed us out of our comfort zones. Language barriers were overcome, friendships were forged, and we became a close-knit community of learners.
Beyond the classroom, we had the chance to explore the charming city of Quebec and immerse ourselves in its vibrant culture. From kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding adventures under the warm Canadian sun to attending a Lana Del Rey concert at the renowned Quebec Summer Festival, the memories created were truly special. One of the highlights of our time in Quebec was a breathtaking excursion to Montmorency Falls. The sheer power and beauty of the falls left us all in awe, providing a deep appreciation for the natural wonders of Canada.
The campus of Laval University was equally impressive. Nestled in a serene natural setting, it offered a vast expanse of greenery and amazing sports facilities. It was the ideal backdrop for a transformative learning experience. Moreover, the locals (and all the people from the university) were incredibly welcoming, and their warmth made me feel at home in this new, exciting environment.
In summary, my summer at Laval University was a remarkable journey of academic growth, cultural immersion, and personal connections (despite their not very good poutine 😋). It's an experience I will forever cherish, not only for the knowledge I gained but also for the friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Quebec, with its unique blend of European charm and North American energy, left an indelible mark on my heart.
